Dane Angus Killed By Pickup In Downtown Santa Barbara Hit-And-Run

A scooter rider was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in Harbor City.

Santa Barbara, CA (February 26, 2024) An early morning scooter ride ended in tragedy on Saturday, authorities said. 32-year-old Dane Angus was killed near the intersection of Cota Street and Santa Barbara Street in downtown Santa Barbara when he was truck by a pickup. The accident fatally injured the rider, but the driver didn’t stay to help. Instead, they fled the scene of the accident, leaving the scooter rider lying in the middle of the road.

It was 2:00 a.m. in Santa Barbara as Angus rode a scooter through downtown. A pickup truck was also driving through downtown when they struck the scooter. Officers said the scooter became wedged under the front of the pickup, but the driver continued down the street.

They did everything they could, but Angus’s injuries were too severe and he, unfortunately, succumbed to them. He was pronounced dead at the scene, officers reported.

While authorities later found and arrested 34-year-old Salvador Jimenez and 26-year-old Estefani Nava Guerrero on hit-and-run charges, officers said. They were booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail on Monday, February 26th.
