RIVERSIDE, CA (NOVEMBER 25, 2023): 37-year-old Melesia Gomes has been identified as the victim of a fatal pedestrian accident on Magnolia Avenue in Riverside this week.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on Friday, November 24th as Gomes was walking in the area of Magnolia Avenue and Byron Street near the Home Gardens area at 10:21 p.m. For reasons unknown, a vehicle then struck Gomes in the roadway. leaving her with critical injuries.

Authorities and other emergency personnel arrived shortly after, discovering the woman lying in the roadway. Paramedics administered first aid and attempted life resuscitating measures on Gomes, but unfortunately she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is unclear if the driver remained at the scene, and a description of the vehicle was not made available as of yet. The cause of the crash is still pending. Riverside authorities will continue to investigate the pedestrian accident that resulted in the death of Melesia Gomes.
