Pedestrian Fatally Injured On Hollywood (101) Freeway

Los Angeles, CA (September 4, 2024) Tragedy struck the residents of Hollywood as news spread of a pedestrian’s death. The man was crossing the Hollywood (101) Freeway when he was struck and killed by a vehicle near Vermont Avenue. It happened just before 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 4th, while many were sleeping.

It was dark on that early summer morning as a man walked through Hollywood. Just before 2:30 a.m., he attempted to cross the northbound Hollywood (101) Freeway, just south of Hollywood. As he crossed, he was struck by a vehicle, officers reported. The force through the pedestrian several feet before he landed on the freeway. The driver of the vehicle immediately stopped and called the police, reports indicated.

Officers with the California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene and found the pedestrian on the freeway. He wasn’t moving, not even breathing. Sadly, he had been killed by the impact and was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities.

A SigAlert was issued while officers investigated the scene and questioned the driver of the vehicle and are working to determine what exactly happened on that stretch of the 101 Freeway, near Hollywood, California. The investigation remains going as detectives work to understand why the pedestrian was on the freeway.
