Encinitas, CA (November 9, 2023) A 37-year-old man lost his life on Wednesday evening, November 8th, when he was struck by a vehicle in Encinitas, authorities reported. The fatal accident occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. in the 200 block of North El Camino Real, according to the San Diego Sheriff’s Department.
Paramedics and deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff’s Station arrived at the scene and found the pedestrian on the ground not far from the vehicle that had struck him. Paramedics realized that the man was in need of medical attention. They lifted him onto a gurney, placed him in the ambulance and took him to a local hospital for treatment. Sadly, the pedestrian was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The San Diego Sheriff’s Department said the driver of the vehicle that hit the pedestrian remained at the scene and cooperated with officers during their investigation. He did not seem to be injured in the collision.
The victim’s identity is being withheld until authorities have notified the man’s next of kin.
The Sheriff’s Department is investigating this collision to determine what caused the vehicle to strike the pedestrian. Investigators searched the scene for evidence and questioned the driver of the vehicle. The cause of the pedestrian versus vehicle collision is still unknown at this time.
