Echo Park, Los Angeles, CA (April 3, 2024) Disbelief flowed through the Echo Park area of Los Angeles as news spread of a hit-and-run. A 53-year-old male pedestrian sustained fatal injuries after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Boylston Street and Sunset Boulevard. The tragic accident occurred at approximately 1:45 a.m. and the driver quickly fled the scene, according to officers.
Flashing emergency lights and blaring sirens filled the dark sky as emergency crews hurried to the scene of a hit-and-run in Echo Park. Traffic was lighter than usual, since it was the middle of the night, as firefighters and police officers approached the scene. They arrived to find a man lying on the ground. It was evident that he had been hit by a vehicle, but there was no vehicle in the area.
Paramedics performed life-saving measures on the pedestrian as they loaded him into an ambulance. He was rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The emergency medical team did everything they could, but the pedestrian’s injuries were too severe. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
A Spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department said they are actively trying to find the vehicle responsible. By finding the vehicle, they hope to find the driver and bring him or her to justice for this fatal hit-and-run accident in Echo Park.
