Murrieta, CA (December 19, 2023) 37-year-old Teddy Ramirez, a Perris resident, was struck and killed by a vehicle on Interstate 215 in Murrieta on Monday, December 18th. The California Highway Patrol said that the accident occurred around 9:00 p.m. near Baxter Road.
Reports indicate that a 53-year-old man was driving a 2019 Toyota Rav4, traveling at about 65 miles per hour on Interstate 215. Ramirez was walking as the vehicle approached. For reasons unknown, Ramirez stepped into the No. 3 lane, directly into the path of the Toyota. The driver didn’t have time to react and ended up hitting Ramirez.

Following the collision, the driver stopped and immediately called 911, according to the California Highway patrol. Murrieta Fire & Rescue responded and were at the scene within 10 minutes. Sadly, upon arrival, they found Ramirez already deceased and pronounced him dead at the scene.
Officers had to close the No. 3 lane of Interstate 215 for a while so they could investigate the accident. The California Highway Patrol is heading this investigation and hope to determine why Ramirez was walking on the interstate.
