Hesperia, CA (February 28, 2024) Tragedy struck the town of Hesperia on February 20th, when 21-year-old Francisco Valencia-Saucedo lost his entire family to a drunk driver. Francisco was also in the vehicle at the time of the collision and was the only member of his family to survive, officers reported. His parents, Pedro Valencia-Perez, 58, and Rosa Saucedo-Negrete, 59, as well as his older brother, Jose Valencia-Saucedo, 22, were all killed in this traumatic accident.
The family was in a blue 2005 Toyota Corolla sedan, traveling together along Mariposa Road, on a family trip. Without any warning, a black 2016 Chevy Suburban crossed the double yellow lines and headed straight for the family’s vehicle. With no time to react, the Suburban crashed into the family’s sedan, head-on, officers reported.
21-year-old Francisco Valencia-Saucedo was the only member of his family to survive this terrible collision. He sustained critical injuries in the crash and has been in the hospital, fighting for his life.
The driver of the other vehicle, 45-year-old Pavlo Padilla, also sustained critical injuries in the collision, officers said. Police officers reported that Padilla has been arrested for DUI causing injury/death as well as vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
