Alan Booth Arrested, 3 Injured In Bakersfield Parade Collision

Bakersfield, CA (December 8, 2023) 72-year-old Alan Booth was arrested on Thursday night, December 3rd, after hitting 3 people with his vehicle during the Bakersfield Christmas Parade. Officers were actually in the area, preparing for the parade, when they witnessed Booth’s white pickup truck hit three spectators. Officers said it happened just before 5:30 p.m.

It happened in the area of 21st Street and H Street, according to the Bakersfield Police Department. Spectators were lining the streets and people were getting ready for the parade, when Booth got in his pickup, backed up through an alley at a high speed, and hit three men. Officers said Booth kept backing up until he finally stopped near the downtown Bakersfield Fire Station on H Street.

The firefighters immediately ran to give aid to the three victims, all men, ages 21, 42, and 77. The three men were injured, but medical personnel reported that they are all in stable condition. However, the extent of their injuries is still unknown at this point.

Booth was arrested for felony charges of driving under the influence, according to the Bakersfield Police Department. This accident is now being referred to as the “Bakersfield Christmas Parade Crash.” Everyone is thankful that no lives were lost in this accident.
